BC016: Farm to Bottle w/Jason McClure of McClure's Orchard

We traveled to McClure's Orchard in Peru, IN to imbibe with Jason McClure, the man behind their cider and wine program. Jason educated us on the history of the orchard, how his family came to own it, and the different kind of apples they grow. From there, we learned how those apples are turned into cider, how a cider's vintage is similar to a wine's vintage, and about the insane laws the wine industry has. Grab your favorite cider, a pair of headphones, and come imbibe with us!

House of Beers Episode 7: Bare Hands Brewery Thai.P.A.

On this episode, we are joined by Jake Seward of Indy Craft Brew and we decided to sample another Northern Indiana brewery, Bare Hands Brewery, because they are making phenomenal beer. Thai.P.A. is their highly-rated core IPA. We discuss the ins-and-outs of the beer and what we do and do not like about the brew.

Instead of comparing the IPA to the BJCP Style Guide (sorry it was the third American IPA in seven episodes) we had yet another discussion about Untappd. We know you love it!

We finish the show by talking about the beers we've been drinking and the new breweries we've been too. Lots of great beer, but a 50/50 split on the brewery experiences.

This is a special episode from our friends over at IndyCraftBrew.com. We teamed up with them to bring you the podcast version and you can check out the video version, filmed and edited by Moski Homebrew, on Indy Craft Brew's YouTube Channel.

On this episode, Jake Seward and Mike Lawton from Indy Craft Brew sat down with Brewer John, head brewer from Triton Brewing. They learned more about how John got started as a brewer, how Triton came to be, and more about the beers they brew.

Whale Hunters EP 2 - Founders CBS

We caught Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout while Whale Hunting and decided to share it with our friends Andrew (Saf) and Dustin from the DrinkIN GeekOUT Podcast. This is an amazing beer that was well worth the hype surrounding its release last year.

During the rest of the episode, we sample beers from Sun King Brewing, 450 North Brewing Co., and Brew Link Brewing Co.

To finish the show we discuss which Indiana brewery we would each select if we could only drink from one for the rest of our lives. I think the answers may surprise you.

House of Beers Episode 6: 3 Floyds Gumballhead

On this episode we dive into one of the legendary beers from Indiana, 3 Floyds Gumballhead. This Pale Wheat Ale is hard to come by in the state, even in Indianapolis, but we found a fresh six-pack and decided to break down what makes this beer so popular.

Joining us this week were Pete Senefeld from Thespeakpodcast and Nick Boling from Circle City Zymurgy.

We sampled a couple homebrews that Nick took with him to the Whitestown Brew Fest Homebrew Competition on September 15, 2018. (OH, AND HE TOOK HOME THE GRAND PRIZE!) He brought Guilty Pleasure, a Chocolate Raspberry Stout and Cinna Death Punch, a cinnamon Russian Imperial Stout.

To round out the episode we reviewed New Day Craft's 3rd Annual Meadful Thing and Outciders event that Dustin, Matt, and Nick all attended.

Whale Hunters Episode 1! We've created a new series based on House of Beer, called Whale Hunters. As fans of craft beer, we seek out the hard-to-find brews along with the everyday shelf beers.

In this first episode, Kevin Groover of Out Here Having a Pint dropped by to discuss Books & Brews Franken Gloop, the first barrel aged beer from their Dr. Frankenstein’s Monster Reserve series. Only 120 bottles were available to those who put their name on the list, making it a hard-to-find beer.

Dustin and Matt review the beers they sampled at Indiana on Tap's August Tasting Society Event (beers from Tin Man Kokomo, Fountain Square Brewing, Pax Verum, and Monon Beverage Brokers). For news, the trio talks about BrewDogs beer hotel, a place Kevin got to stay in before the general public, and talk pros and cons, mostly pros, of breweries creating variety pack based on Oskar Blues recent news.
