Episode 232 - Kendall Joseph of Rhizome Productions

Tanner drove up to Nashville for this episode to meet Kendall Joseph from Rhizome Productions over at Smith and Lentz Brewing. If Rhizome sounds familiar to you, it’s because they are responsible for Chattabrewga, East Nashville Beer Festival, and a few other events across the land. This year brings several changes to Chattabrewga, and Kendall is here to break down some of those, all while trying some classic styled beers and Smith and Lentz.

We’re joined this on this episode by the Adventure Fight guys themselves, Ian Sharp and Bryant Smith. They’re here to tell us all about Adventure Fight and their upcoming show at ConNooga, and they breakdown as much as we could think you need to know about ConNooga. Such as drinking etiquette, shows and panels to check out, and more. We’ve also started running a contest via our Instagram to give away tickets to Chattabrewga. Go check it out and find us at ConNooga on February 21st and 22nd.

Coming in hot… Tim Shields, Kim (Kimbobeero), and Latroya Buttes join Tanner and Jared to crack a few bottles. Tanner has a Saugatuck Brewing lineup with their Neapolitan Stout. Tim brought some Tennessee Brew Works beer and some of his mead, and we get into some newly arrived PBR Hard Coffee.

Tanner and Jared mozied their way down to Riverside Wine & Spirits to sit down with their resident beer guy, Tommy Lape. Tommy shows us a crazy method of essentially dry hopping a 12% stout with Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It’s also rare that we come across a style of beer that we haven’t really had, and one of those is the Adam style, and that’s exactly what Tommy is helping us dive into, and they talk a little bit about The Superbowl.

Dave Hannah joins us for this episode to drink some of the tastier beers we’ve had on in the short time we have in fact been inside of 2020. Some Imperial Peanut Butter & Jelly Milk Stout from Tailgate Brewing in Nashville and some Eclipse Barrel Aged Imperial Stout… their 2019 German Chocolate Cake. We’ve got some straight beers for booze hounds on this episode. But we’re also talking about the late Kobe Bryant, Krystal filing for bankruptcy, and the retirement communities of Florida.

Hang in there with us this episode, Tanner may have (read: most definitely) had a few too many beers the night before recording this episode. But alas, the show goes on and to help how, he brought in guest host from The Bitch Beer Podcast, Caroline King. But they also have Pittsburgh comedians Paige Polesnak & Kayleigh Dumas swing by the studio to talk with us about various comedy scenes, dating, working as a creative professional, and bad jobs of yesteryear.

Tanner, Ian Sharp, and Scott Samuels sat down a few weeks ago to do a late retrospective on some of the best and worst of 2019. The episode ran a bit long, and we had to rush the episode a bit so we came back to record a part 2 to finish up with. We talk about The Boys from Amazon, HBO’s The Watchmen, Netflix’s Umbrella Academy and way, way more.

This episode has local comic Jon Eick joining us on the show to drink some Astronaut Status and some Westbrook Brewing’s Gates of S’mordor. We also discuss quite a few topics ranging from how Hard Seltzers hit the market and are effecting beer sales, whether kids still think astronauts are the coolest jobs, and the Super Bowl.

The Show

Based out of the Scenic City, Chattanooga, Tennessee. Sit down with Tanner, Jared, and Alan for a couple of pints of good conversation, theories, and beer. This show isn't for the faint of heart, or children. But neither is good beer. We can't promise you won't be offended, but we can promise good conversation and (hopefully) some good beer. After all, good conversation is intoxicating.
