Little different type of episode this week.  A few months back Jay Weezie was invited to attend a panel of industry professionals to discuss the topic of Hazy IPAs.  Chris Troepeano of Resident Culture, TJ Creighton of High Branch, Scott Worthington of Heist, Ben Dolphens of Divine Barrel and Jay Weezie discuss the style, brewing methods, and the longevity of the style.

They take questions from the crowd that attended the event.  Hosted by Town Brewing and moderated by co-owner and brewer Brian Quinn.

This week’s episode took the guy’s to the historic Duke Mansion. We got a chance to sit with owner and founder of Islander Ginger Beer, Georgia Dunn and her husband Bill Belk. We learned about the rich historical importance of Ginger Beer and the impact it had in the forming of our country. Be sure to grab a four pack of this great beer at your neighborhood Harris Teeter or ask for it at your favorite bottle shop.

It was a great treat to record live from The Duke Mansion. Special thanks to their Director of Development, Pat Martin for rolling out the red carpet for us. Listen as Pat walks us through the mansion’s history and beauty. Be sure to stop by and visit the property next time you’re in the Myers Park neighborhood.

We're back at one of our favorite beer festivals of the year this week.  The NC Brewers and Music Festival at Rural Hill is a highlight of the spring festival season.  Unfortunately this year was a rainy mess but we made the best of it.  Big thanks to the ladies with the Podblast Studio for letting us use the studio.  It was a godsend to keep our equipment dry.

On the show this week we talked with NoDa Brewing owners Todd and Suzie Ford about Brizo Hard Seltzer, Craft Freedom, the opening of the O.G. location and the concerts they are putting on at the brewery.

Then Jay Schutz from One World Brewing about his brewery in Asheville, NC.  Starting with a one barrel set up in the basement of a downtown building and now with a second location in West Asheville they are making some great beer for Western NC.

We also sit down down with the BeerAdvocate.com brothers Jason and Todd Alstrom.  These brothers have been in the beer game for a while and have one of the most frequented beer rating sites on the internet.

We also talk with Gerard Littlejohn Executive Director of the Steve Smith Foundation about their role with the festival and in that same segment, Brandon Branscome of Incendiary Brewing talks about his brewery in Winston-Salem, NC.

During the rain delay, we had the sales reps from Olde Hickory sit down and play a little wheel of content with us.

Finally, we close out with our thoughts on this first year at The Untappd Beer Festival.
