Summer Swelter Beer Festival

Summer Swelter is fast becoming one of the best craft beer festivals in all of NJ. This year is even bigger and better than it's inaugural year last year. The festival has grown to 50 NJ breweries and with that, a new spot.

Maureen Fitzpatrick, the author of the book "A Guide to New Jersey Craft Beer Breweries, South Jersey Edition" and one of the organizers of the festival sat down and talked to me and Amy about what you can expect, how to get your tickets and some of breweries that will be there. We also talked a little bit about her book but that is a podcast for another date. Check out the website, www.uptownPitman.com for more info and updates. Follow Summer Swelter on social media and make sure you find a copy of Maureen's book for info on the breweries in SJ. You can find her book on Amazon and on the SJ Beer Scene website.

Recent Episodes

While continuing to social distance, Amy and Rob talk via Zoom with Alexis Degan, Executive Director of the New Jersey Brewers Association. She talks about the new non-profit, Brewery Strong and how the breweries of NJ are making out during the quarantine.

You will notice that both Ian and Eric are missing from this episode because Rob is continuing to hate Zoom and lessened the amount on the show. Look for them to appear on upcoming shows.

On March 24, 2017 we visited the studio of Toxic Radio to record our first episode.  In honor of that anniversary I decided to release this episode again so that you can laugh at how I tried to have a "radio voice". Pretty funny listening to us navigate our way through our first episode.

It's been 3 years since we started and we have met so many great people, drank a lot of awesome beer and we all laughed  at what Amy said. Thanks for all of our guest who joined us and thanks in advance to those that we will meet in the future.

We wanted to sit down and do an episode but with the Covid-19 pandemic just starting to take over our everyday lives, we used the equipment in the studio. With Rob in the studio, he got Amy, Ian and Eric on the phone from their social distancing spots. Actually, Amy and Ian weren't totally following protocol. Even though Rob was running the board, it all worked out.

We want everyone to stay safe, follow the advice of the CDC and your local government in order to remain that way. The situation changes every day so make sure you stay up to date on the news.

Remember to shop local at this time. Support the NJ breweries the best you can.

We drank beers from Flying Fish, Glasstown, Bolero Snort and Atco Brewing and Riverhorse

We took a road trip again and this time we visited Eight and Sand Brewery in Woodbury, NJ where we sat down and talked to one of our previous guests, Kristen Wilson. She was on our Ladies Night episode a while ago. Kristen is the tap room manager and self proclaimed den mother of the brewery. She talked about the brewery and the new girls podcast that she will be starting very soon.

We also talked to Chris Mazzone, one of the owners of Eight and Sand, who along with Chris Burke turned a small spot in Woodbury in to one of the best breweries in South Jersey.

You should definitely make it a point to visit them. Follow them on social media to find out all of the events they have at the brewery

We find out about how these guys got started and how they chose Nick to be their brewer. We also talk about there different take on pouring a beer.

Make sure you follow them on social media to find out about upcoming events and what new beer cocktails they are making

We have talked many times about visiting different breweries so we thought we would sit down with a company that takes you and 17 of your friends (if you have that many) out to visit different spots.

Brothers Joe and Kevin run Beer Belly Brew Tours and will set up a custom tour or you can catch one of their tours that is open for all. Check out their website or follow them on social media to find out where they are headed to next or contact them to find up what kind of trip they can set up for you.
